Lucia Silva To All Instructors
Teacher & Firefly Co-Founder
Lucia is one of Firefly’s original co-founders, and has enjoyed teaching writing and creative arts in this community since its inception in 2021. Since the birth of her first child in 2010 she has been active in leading educational and support groups for attachment parents, homeschooling and unschooling parents, knitters, sewers, and young writers.
Originally from Los Angeles, Lucia moved to Athens with her husband and two children in 2015. She is passionate about creating collaborative, supportive spaces for children to explore their interests, and treasures the time spent learning alongside her children and students.
For over a decade Lucia worked as a buyer and manager for independent bookstores in Los Angeles and San Diego and was a regular book reviewer for NPR’s Morning Edition with Susan Stamberg. She studied art history and poetry at Sarah Lawrence College, and holds a BA in Liberal Arts from The Evergreen State College.
