COVID-19 Policies and Precautions
Masks will be required indoors at Firefly during COVID-19 High Community Level, as reported by the CDC's COVID-19 County Check. Level reports will be checked every Friday, and the mask policy for the following week will be announced in the Weekly Newsletter on Mondays. During Medium and Low levels, masks will be optional. Masks will be optional outdoors at all times. We encourage all students to keep a mask on hand in their backpacks throughout the school year. Our Board of Directors will continue to evaluate and assess our policies to best serve our community.
COVID Reporting and Quarantine Policy
The following policies apply to students, teachers, parent volunteers, and any other adult or child attending FHC classes or events:
If you or anyone in your household tests positive for or exhibits symptoms of COVID-19:
Stay home from FHC for at least 5 days. Day 1 is the first full day after symptoms started or first full day after a positive test.
Contact FHC via the COVID reporting form.
If you are completely symptom-free after 5 days, you may return to FHC wearing a well-fitting mask both indoors and outdoors until 10 days have passed, regardless of the current Community Level.
If you stay at FHC for lunch, you must have a parent join you for lunch outdoors, seated away from the outdoor lunch group, until 10 full days have passed.
After 10 days have passed and you are symptom-free you may resume following FHC's Community Level mask requirement.
If you have contact with someone outside your household who tests positive for COVID-19:
Report your exposure and testing plans via the COVID reporting form on our website.
Watch for symptoms and test at least 5 days after exposure. Day 1 is the first full day after the exposure.
If you do not have any symptoms during the first 5 days before your test, you may attend FHC with a well-fitting mask both indoors and outdoors, regardless of current Community Level.
If you stay at FHC for lunch, you must have a parent join you for lunch outdoors, seated away from the outdoor lunch group, until you have tested negative on or after the 5th day of exposure.
If you choose not to test, you will need to stay home from FHC until 10 full days have passed since your exposure.
Families with children who share classes with an individual who tests positive will be notified via a dedicated thread in the relevant class forums. Please make sure you’re receiving Forum notifications via email.
You may use either rapid tests or PCR tests.
COVID Precautions and Policies

- During Medium and Low levels, masks will be optional.
- Masks are optional for all outdoor classes/events.

We’re offering two Lunch options:
Outdoor Lunch: This lunch group will be outside (in the shade) in all weather except for rain. When it’s raining, students will be distanced inside.
*Please email us at [email protected] by July 31, 2023 if you would like to enroll your child in Outdoor Lunch.
Distancing: Due to collaborative group work, supporting positive social interactions, and the reality of our space, we cannot always enforce social distancing. Whenever the work and our space allows, we will do our best to maintain appropriate distancing.
This is our plan based on current data and recommendations. We understand this is an ever-changing situation and we will continue to reassess and adjust policies as needed.
